The Rutlands® thicknesser allows for ultra smooth, ripple-free planing of hard and soft woods without the need for additional sanding. It is perfect for frame making and uniform board production.  The thicknesser features a triple-roller drive system. The serrated infeed-roller grips the wood and powers it through the cutter block, precisely planing the surface, before the no-mar outfeed roller draws the planed wood out. A series of anti kick back teeth prevent the workpiece from snatching and kicking back. The cutter block houses two high-speed steel blades and is perfectly balanced to minimise vibration.

The 2000w high torque motor rotates the cutter block at 8000rpm, allowing you to plane up to 3mm in one pass. The cutter block is raised and lowered on six columns to ensure precise material thickness across its entirety.  The large foldable extension tables, complete with rollers at each end, are micro adjustable and adequately support the workpiece, helping to reduce snipe. The stainless steel infeed table minimises friction to ensure a smooth and consistent workpiece passage, particular beneficial when planning resinous timbers.

The maximum planning width is 330mm with a workpiece thickness from 6mm to 160mm. The 50mm dust port allows for coupling to industry standard dust extraction hoses and fittings. Whilst it is portable, it is also of solid construction, weighing 27kg, which aids stability, minimises vibration and improves performance.
